Privacy Policy

SoulMate AI (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a virtual AI‑companion app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. By using SoulMate AI you agree to this policy. The app is intended for users aged 17 and older.

No account required

SoulMate AI has no sign‑up and no login. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any account credentials.

Data stored on your device

The things that make the app personal — your chosen name, preferences, goals, conversation history, relationship progress, and your “memory album” — are stored only on your device using Apple’s on‑device storage. We do not have a copy of your conversations on our servers, and we cannot read them. Deleting the app, or using “Delete all conversations & memories” in Settings, removes this data.

Message processing & the third‑party AI service

What is sent, and to whom. To generate a companion’s reply, the text of the message you send — together with the limited on‑device context needed to respond, such as the first name you chose and recent conversation context — is transmitted over an encrypted connection through our secure server to a third‑party AI provider, OpenRouter (openrouter.ai), which routes the request to the DeepSeek large‑language model to generate the reply. The reply is then returned to your device.

How it is handled. This processing is transient. We do not store your messages or conversations on our servers, and neither we nor the AI provider use them to build a profile of you or to train models. The AI provider processes the data solely to generate the immediate reply and is contractually required to protect it with the same or equal protection described in this policy. You are asked to consent to this processing inside the app before any message is sent. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information you would not want processed by an AI service.

Abuse prevention

To prevent abuse and protect against runaway costs, our server records a per‑device identifier (Apple’s identifierForVendor) together with a timestamp for rate‑limiting. This identifier is not linked to your real‑world identity and is not used for advertising or tracking.

What we do NOT do

We do not show ads. We do not sell or share your personal data. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use analytics SDKs that profile you.

Payments

SoulMate AI is free. There are no in‑app purchases or subscriptions, and we do not collect or receive payment information.

Children

SoulMate AI is intended for users 17+ and is not directed to children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Not a substitute for professional help

SoulMate AI is an AI companion, not a real person and not a medical, psychological, or crisis service. If you are in distress, please contact a local crisis line or emergency services.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date.
